How curiosity, discipline, and a passion for learning turned a car-loving kid into a tech entrepreneur and leader in e-commerce innovation.
From the Humble Beginnings to Big Dreams
Born on September 8, 1986, in Mississippi, Reco Jefferson didn’t come from wealth—but he was rich in curiosity. From a young age, he understood that knowledge was the gateway to a better life.
“I always knew that if I wanted to change my life, I had to learn,” Reco recalls. “So I read everything I could get my hands on—especially books about tech and engineering.”
His early hunger for knowledge paved the way for a life of discovery and reinvention. When his family relocated to the Philadelphia area during high school, Reco found himself in a new environment, but his drive remained the same. That’s when he discovered his second love—cars.
“I loved working on cars,” he says. “Taking things apart, figuring them out, and making them better—it taught me how to think.”
Fast Cars, Fast Lessons
Reco’s passion for cars quickly spilled into the world of racing—on the track and in the streets. It was thrilling, but also eye-opening.
“It was fun. Too fun, maybe,” he admits. “But it helped me see that I needed more structure in my life.”
That need for direction led him to join the U.S. Air Force. The discipline, routine, and focus he found in the military shaped the foundation of the man he would become.
“I learned how to stay focused,” Reco says. “It helped me build the mindset I needed to succeed later in life.”
After completing his service, he pursued higher education at Penn State University. Armed with a degree and a deep self-taught knowledge of technology, he was ready for the next chapter.
Building His Future in Tech and Business
Reco started his professional journey as a software engineer—a natural path for someone who loved solving problems.
“That’s what software is all about,” he says. “Solving problems.”
But Reco didn’t just want a good job. He wanted to build something of his own. So he launched Roughnecks Ecom, an e-commerce company that uses tech and automation to drive performance and innovation.
“I didn’t start out thinking I’d be a CEO,” he says. “I just wanted to create something that worked better.”
As his company grew, so did his role. Today, he’s at the helm—leading strategy, managing teams, and pushing boundaries in AI and tech.
Still Racing, Still Learning
Despite his busy career, Reco hasn’t let go of his first love.
“I race with the Sports Car Club of America,” he says. “Road racing keeps me sharp. It’s technical, fast, and focused—kind of like running a company.”
He’s also a devoted Formula 1 fan and still dreams of the track life, even if just from the sidelines.
Life Beyond the Office
When he’s not working or racing, you’ll likely find Reco at the movies.
“I’m big on horror and action,” he says with a grin. “And yeah, I’ve got a thing for movie popcorn. It’s a ritual at this point.”
He’s also begun to explore the world more—taking spontaneous trips to places that intrigue him, with no rigid itinerary in hand.
“I just find a place that seems cool and go,” he explains. “It helps me see things differently.”
Giving Back and Looking Ahead
Living in Philadelphia has made Reco deeply aware of the challenges many young people face—especially in the public school system.
“I try to talk to kids in the city whenever I can,” he says. “The school system here is rough, and I want to help change that.”
One of his long-term dreams is to open a school that offers real tools for success, especially to underserved communities.
“I didn’t have much growing up, but I had access to knowledge. That’s what I want to give back.”
Lessons from Reco Jefferson
Reco’s journey isn’t just about success—it’s about persistence, passion, and purpose. He believes in the power of curiosity, the value of hard work, and the importance of giving others a fair shot.
“I never feel like I’ve made it,” he says. “There’s always more to learn, more to build, and more to give.”
From Mississippi to military service, from software engineering to CEO, and from street racing to boardrooms, Reco Jefferson’s story is one of constant growth. It’s a story not just about what he’s built—but about what he’s building next.
“Better systems. Better tools. Better chances for the next generation.” That’s the road Reco Jefferson is racing down—and he’s just getting started.
