Bayern Munich Extends CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen’s Tenure Through 2027

Bayern’s Vision for Stability and Success Continues Under Dreesen’s Extended Leadership

Guiding Stability and Growth, Dreesen’s Leadership Set to Shape Bayern’s Future

In a significant vote of confidence, Bayern Munich has extended CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen’s contract, securing his leadership at the Bundesliga club through 2027. This decision, announced Monday evening, extends the 57-year-old executive’s role by two years beyond his initial contract end date of 2025.

Dreesen’s leadership came at a pivotal moment for Bayern Munich. In 2023, following the departure of former CEO Oliver Kahn, Dreesen stepped into the role during a turbulent period, assuming responsibility for guiding one of Europe’s most successful football clubs through a time of transition. Under his leadership, Bayern Munich found its footing, regaining stability and clarity in its path forward.

Reflecting on Dreesen’s contributions, Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer commended his effective leadership during challenging times. “Dreesen has led us back to stability,” Hainer noted, emphasizing the club’s confidence in his ability to tackle future challenges. Hainer underscored that the club’s ambitious objectives would be well-supported by Dreesen’s experience and vision, alongside board members Michael Diederich and Max Eberl.

Dreesen shared his gratitude for the board’s support and affirmed his longstanding commitment to the club’s legacy and future aspirations. “Bayern Munich has always held a special place in my heart,” he said, expressing his determination to maintain the club’s elite status in European football. Dreesen emphasized his dedication to preserving Bayern’s Bavarian heritage and to ensuring both sporting and business excellence on a global stage.

Dreesen’s journey with Bayern Munich began in 2013 when he joined as chief financial officer. His steady ascent within the club saw him take on the role of deputy chairman of the executive board just a year later. Over the past decade, he has been instrumental in fortifying Bayern’s financial strength and reinforcing its stature as a powerhouse in European football.

As Dreesen embarks on this next phase, Bayern Munich fans can look forward to a future grounded in stability, heritage, and ambition. With Dreesen at the helm through 2027, the club is poised to uphold its high standards domestically and internationally while staying true to its Bavarian roots.
